1 YEAR OF STEPH GRANT STUDIOS
WHO KNEW THAT A YEAR WOULD JUST FLY BY, AND I’D BE SITTING HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FULL BLOWN PANDEMIC WRITING THIS BLOG?
In 2012, I photographed my first conference. Not just any conference… the Women's Foodservice Forum (WFF) conference! WFF is the industry's premier leadership development organization, working since 1989 to advance women in the food industry. At that event, I met so many incredible leaders, and shortly after that (like the following month), I put out my good vibes with the cool people I connected with to see if I could photograph another conference in the food service industry. Little did I know it was a massive family! Once you were part of the family and they trusted you, they want to help connect you with others. From 2012-2019, while photographing LGBTQ+ weddings around the world, I was working hard at building my relationships with these wonderful clients and friends. Early last year, my corporate photography website got lost in the abyss. All of my stories and photos from those years GONE. I panicked for a good week and punched the air several times, but decided this was a good time to build what is the new Steph Grant Studios brand. I had consistantly been working with some very talented creatives in the LGBTQ+ community, and decided to launch a creative agency showcasing the stories that we tell. In May of 2019, that happened. I look back now (at the video on the right) and think, “Wow, I could’ve had the team make a high quality video with top notch audio… But, of course, in true last minute Steph fashion, I shot and edited this the morning of launch." I told myself it’s better to get something out in the world than wait any longer to make it perfect. Little did I know that less than 1 year later my team would create my 10 year brand video, and THAT would be perfect. I am so proud of them and happy to have something I can hold in my heart with a decade of my stories and connections. I will never forget those memories.
